Abstract
Segmental instability of the lumbar spine is one of the challenging problem in human being because it¢¥s one of main cause of low back pain, and the effect of segmental instability upon disc and facet joint have no been clarified.
Fifty cats used for this experiment to investigate the effect between unilateral and bilateral segmental instability upon disc and adjacent joint..
Subjects undergoing unilateral removal of facet joint gives more rotatory stress to disc and adjacent facet joint than the group of bilateral removal of those joints. Degeneration of facet joint was more severe than disc, and changes of nucleus pulposus and end plate were not significant.
